This is my reflection on the 1st meeting in Academic Writing last night.
Whatever comes to your mind about academic writing?
In my opinion, Academic writing is a formal style of writing used in universities and scholarly publications. You will encounter it in journal articles and books on academic topics and be expected to write your essays, research papers, and dissertation in academic style.
What is the difference between academic writing and other literature in English?
The main difference between academic and literary writing is that academic writing is more formal, while literary writing can be more creative and expressive. While there are some exceptions, academic writing generally uses a third-person point of view and avoids personal pronouns like I or we.
Writing is a recursive process because when we write something, we can't produce perfect writing if we only try it once. We have to write over and over again in order to get writing with good grammar and structure.
Here are 7 steps to success when we write in academic writing:
Analysis
Brainstorming
Research
Plan of attack
First draft
Revising and editing
